Makongeni MCA Cleared To Run By IEBC
Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok has been cleared by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to run for Makongeni ward seat for the third time.
Imwatok was cleared at the Jericho Social Hall by Makadara Returning Officer.
In his address he applauded IEBC for the smooth exercise and transparency.
“I have been cleared today by IEBC and that’s a clear indicator that we are now ready to hit the ground. The process was smooth and we want to thank the commission for that,” Imwatok said.
He says the focus is now on his campaigns urging his competitors to embrace peace during the electioneering period.
“Let’s have peaceful campaigns there is no enemy in politics. To my supporters I will do the very best for you… on national politics let’s Vote in our party leader Raila Amollo Odinga,” he added.
According to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati the official campaign period begun on May 29 and urged politicians to be mindful of their remarks on the campaign trail even as they woo voters.
“We are following the Election Act to the latter. As far as we are concerned, campaigns began on the 29th of May, that’s when the official campaign period begins,” he stated.
“Those going round the country we have asked them to be peaceful in whatever it is they are promoting,” Chebukati added.
